The XJ line was updated in autumn 1973. The 4.2 Litre XJ6 and the 5.3 Litre V12 XJ12 continued with an addition of a 3.4 Litre version available from 1975. Initially there was two wheelbase lengths, but in 1974 the shorter version was withdrawn. By this time the first customer deliveries of the two-door Coupe, which retained the shorter standard-wheelbase, were only months away.
Visually, Series II cars had raised front bumpers to meet US safety regulations, which necessitated a smaller grille, and an additional inlet directly below the bumper. The interior received a substantial update, including simplified heating and a/c systems. In May 1977, it was announced that automatic transmission version of the 12-cylinder cars would be fitted with a General Motors three-speed THM 400 transmission.

The vendor advises that this is a totally original and unrestored, rare short wheelbase car. It is a one family owned car, and has had only 2 drivers, a father and son. The car has full service history, and comes with all books, manuals and brochures, even the radio brochure. There is documentation showing that the car has had a full rust treatment every three years from new, with guarantee included.

The car has just has £2,761 spent on it in, this includes the gearbox being reconditioned (2 year guarantee included ), and new brake discs all round, with pictures showing dropping the sub assembly to do it. The car appears to have zero rust anywhere, the MOT tester said it looks like a new car underneath! This car is described as superb and beautiful, in a great period colour of green sand over tan. The mileage is genuine 50,000 miles, backed up with history with photos of when it the clock turned over 50k last year at 90mph! This must surely be one of the best Jaguar XJ6 Series 2s in existence.
