CIRCLE OF GEORGE BARRETT SNR RA ( C. 1730 1784). EXTENSIVE LANDSCAPE WITH TRAVELLERS ON A COUNTRY LANE. painted an elegantly dressed gentleman standing beside a tree with cattle and horses in the foreground, oil on canvas, 88cm x 101.5cm (103cm x 126cm, including frame).
In fully restored condition, the work has an old reline and there is discoloured restoration in places, camouflaging paint loss, small holes or tears: this is particularly prevalent along the top right hand edge in the sky.
There is extensive old craquelure in place with surface dirt and discoloured varnish throughout.
