A Chinese Reticulated Spherical Incense Burner (Censer) with Dragon and Phoenix Motifs - A Chinese reticulated spherical incense burner, also known as a censer. This ornate, hinged container is crafted from a silver-toned metal, consistent with silver or white metal. Its exterior is extensively decorated with finely executed pierced work featuring dense floral and foliate motifs. Further embellishing the surface are two central medallions on each half, depicting winged creatures, commonly identified as dragon and phoenix motifs in similar examples. When opened, the object reveals a complex gimbaled interior with concentric rings and a small central bowl, designed to hold contents level, characteristic of a pomander, cassolette, or thurible.
