This lot consists of a fixed-blade military fighting knife, identified through consensus as a World War I Imperial German Army Nahkampfmesser (trench knife), and its associated metal scabbard. The knife features a heavily worn steel blade and a simple metal crossguard. The handle is dark, likely wood or composite material, characterized by pronounced horizontal ribbing designed for an ergonomic grip. The ricasso is stamped with the manufacturer's marking: UNION over Zella St. Bl. (referencing Zella-St. Blasii, Germany). The accompanying metal scabbard retains a dark, heavily chipped finish and is fitted with an integrated leather belt loop and retaining strap secured by a metal stud.
