A late Victorian silver and gold diamond and gem-set butterfly brooch. With circular-shape sapphire body and circular ruby cabochon eyes, to the rose-cut diamond and circular-shape ruby wings. Length 3.9cms. Total weight 11.1gms.

More Information

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Some replacement gems.
  • Diamonds fairly well matched.
  • Diamonds fairly bright.

  • Some diamonds chipped and unevenly cut.
  • Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Rubies are a fairly well matched pinkish-red colour, generally with good clarity, one stone with large surface reaching fracture.
  • Sapphires are a fairly well matched dark blue colour, with good clarity.
  • Rubies and sapphires in good to fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.
