An early 20th century 18ct gold and enamel compact. Of curved rectangular outline, the embossed winged lion and foliate motif sides, with blue enamel scrolling foliate border and circular blue gem clasps, opening to reveal vacant compartments, mirror and ivory panel, suspended from a blue enamel fancy-link chain. Length of compact 7.8cms. Length of chain 25cms. Total weight 148.9gms.

  • Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Blue gems are most likely to be blue paste cabochons, with one sapphire oval cabochon clasp, in good condition with minor surface nicks and abrasions.

  • Maker's mark of CIA in a clover.
