Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), was an motor racing outfit and engineering firm founded in 1976, in Kidlington, Oxford, by touring car racer Tom Walkinshaw. The company initially handled privateer work, before entering works touring car racers for manufacturers such as Mazda and Rover. However, TWR became most closely associated with Jaguar, a relationship which started in 1982 with the successful entry of the Jaguar XJ-S into the European Touring Car championship, chalking up a number of wins that year. The relationship continued and by 1988, TWR-Jaguar had taken its first Le Mans victory in a V12-powered XJR-9. Further success followed with a Le Mans win in 1990. TWR and Jaguar formed 'JaguarSport' initially to build tuned versions of Jaguar road-cars, culminating in the production of the XJ220 and XJR-15 super cars at a new facility at Bloxham. With Jaguar falling under Ford's control in 1989, the TWR relationship declined and by 1994, JaguarSport had been liquidated, with the Bloxham factory being turned over to production of Aston Martin DB7's, which were based on the Jaguar XK8.

TWR increased the profile of the XJS all over the world and when, in 1985, they took the victory in the gruelling Bathurst 1000km race in Australia, against the Ford and Holden favourites, it only added to the magic.

Offered here is a rare, low mileage TWR XJS, which is presented quite beautifully. It is said to be unlike most other XJS of this vintage in that every need has been catered for and the car has wanted for nothing throughout its life.

The car is offered complete with a fascinating service history comprising of receipts, previous MOT's and the ever important service record booklet and leather folder, containing all hand books. The car has had just one previous keeper listed on the V5 and is said to have covered a mere 80,000 miles, from new.

If you are in the market for a top end example of a TWR coupe, then you have just found it. With extra horsepower over standard and a tighter suspension and steering setup this is one for the collector.

This TWR comes direct from an extensive private collection.
