Crimean Distinguished Conduct Medal, 1854 Crimea Medal (officially impressed) Sebastopol clasp, QV swivelling scroll Army LSGC, French Medaille Militaire and 1855 Turkish Crimea Medal to 2572 Cr Sergt. W.R. Kerney 34th Regt 1866 (Serjt W. Carney 34 Regt on DCM and Crimea, Turkish unnamed) suspenders re-affixed on DCM and Crimea, Turkish with suspender replaced by 2 rings, have been cleaned and re-lacquered thus fine to very fine. The French Medaille Militaire was warded for 'Sergeant William Carney and Private Thomas Loft carrying Sergeant Harrison, 34th. in when wounded, on 8th September 1855, under heavy fire', this date was the start of the final attack on Sebstopol. With 5 copied pages of service record, professional researchers letter and painted illustrated board. He was born William Richard Kearney in Dublin and enlisted under the alias of William Carney in 1845 aged 17, promoted Sgt in April 1855, listed as wounded in the leg on 26th November 1857 at Cawnpore so presumably entitled to Indian Mutiny Medal (not in lot), discharged January 1868and residing in Lanarkshire, in 1891 his pension was increased on account of 23 years service with the Lanark Militia.
