Agricultural Unemployment Insurance: 1936 Provisional issue, Ledger page (225 x 237mm) bearing FIFTEEN stamp-sized die proofs in black on glazed card, with appropriate M/S captions of all die numbers, each handstamped 'CANCELLED' in red. The first section showing the master die of the frame with uncleared surround and centre, the “2 SET KEY” after the plate had begun to be made up and a proof of the provisional ‘AGRICULTURE’ overprint forme, Section two with three by BICOLOUR proofs denominated 1d 1½d and 3d with value added in red to black frames, the third section with 3½d, 4d, 4½d, 7d, 8d, 9d, each with completed overprint and value tablet in black with frames in red, the final two die proofs without ‘AGRICULTURE’ overprint denominated 4s8d ad 15s2d. A wonderful and unique array of proofs, from the proof book presented to Royal Mint engraver H. A. Richardson on his retirement (when the red 'CANCELLED' handstamp was applied). A truly wonderful item of the highest importance to the issue which is ripe for further research.
