Nigel Lovett was the son of the late Brigadier General Alfred Crowdy Lovett, and was an officer of The Gloucestershire Regiment, as well as a talented painter stationed among other places in Continental Europe, Egypt and Singapore.
An Impressionist and Modern painter, he depicted scenes of a sporting nature as well as everyday life, landscapes, portraits and military subjects.
He retired from the army in the 1950's and continued his love of painting until the 1980's.
