The Jaguar XK8 was launched by Jaguar Cars in 1996, and was the first generation of a new XK series. The XK8 was available in coupé or convertible body styles and with the new 4.0 litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. In 1998 the XKR was introduced with a supercharged version of the engine. From 2003 the engines were replaced by the 4.2 litre AJ34 engines in both the normally aspirated and supercharged versions. The first-generation XK series shares its platform with the Aston Martin DB7. Both cars were derived from the Jaguar XJS, though the platform had been extensively changed. One of the revisions was the use of the second generation of Jaguar's IRS unit , as used on the XJ40 saloon.

Offered here is 1997 4.0 convertible, which has had just three owners, the current since 2006. It is said to have covered a warranted 41,000 miles from new, which is warranted, by the vendor as being correct. Unfortunately alll of the paperwork for the car was destroyed in a house fire, so the vendor is unable to produce service history.

Finished in cranberry metallic with cream leather, the car is in good condition and drives well. It has not been used for several months due to a medical condition, which is why it is being offered for sale.
