A mid Victorian gold garnet brooch. Designed as an oval garnet cabochon cross, with scrolling foliate and shell surround. Length 5.8cms. Weight 13.6gms.

More Information

  • Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Glazed panel to centre of reverse.
  • Some stones possibly replacement.
  • Three stones slightly loose within setting.
  • Garnets fairly well matched, with one appearing slightly more purple than the rest.
  • Garnets are a dark purplish red to dark purple, fairly well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.
