EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY TWO PART MAHOGANY CAMPAIGN SECRETAIRE CHEST, the brass mounted oblong top above a pair of deep drawers, the locks stamped for J.H. Johnson, Aligarh, India, flanking a central drawer with Bramah lock, the interior fitted with pigeon holes and three drawers, set over three long drawers, 38” (96.5cm) high, 39” x 18 ¾” (99cm x 47.7cm)
C/R- the top with small section of filer to the back left corner, the fitted drawer with later writing surface and lacking removable vertical liner to stop the drawers opening during transport, the left side with large piece missing to the upper section at the joint with the lower section, towards the back, the right side with piece let in to the lower section at the joint with the top section, near the front, the front with the key holes to the top side drawers filled or blanked, the top long drawer with full length split and large piece let in to the top left corner, the bottom drawer with split and a piece let in to the top left corner, usual fading, rubbing, scuffing and surface scratching
