A carved wood chess set, in an inlaid box, 18 cm wide
Report by GH
One of the black pawns is a replacement and is slightly smaller than the others.
Two of the other pawns have chips to the collars below the spherical tops.
One of the white knights also appears to be not original to the set and is slightly bigger than the other.
Otherwise everything seems to match and be original.
Each side has 16 pieces, plus the black side has an extra pawn which does not match the others.
The box has some loss to the inlay and no lock
The white King is stamped JACQUES LONDON and is 7 cm high and is lacking its finial.
