A Georgian oval memorial portrait miniature, head and shoulders of officer in red and blue coat with epaulettes, on ivory, in a gold mounted locket with panel of hair to the reverse with gold wire and seed pearls. The hair is encased with a lower layer of opaline glass and textured yellow metal can be seen beneath. Visible dimensions of portrait 44mm x 35mm. Overall dimensions of locket 46mm x 39mm, excluding suspension ring. We have not attempted to disassemble the locket. There is a very small length of gold wire (about 2mm, by the coat buttons) between the front glass and the portrait, which may have fallen through from the other side, otherwise in very good condition. Acid test to mount suggests 10 carat gold
