A scarce 14 bore 2 groove Brunswick percussion rifle made by Malherbe of Liege, and issued to Russian Sharpshooters; numbered 776 on buttplate and lock. Bears the Royal Cypher of Nicholas I, the buttplate tang impressed with the Imperial Eagle. Twist barrel, back action lock with brass furniture and grip tail guard and rectangular patchbox. Complete with sling swivels and correct brass headed rammer, lightly pitted overall. The small of the stock and guard tang broken, allegedly by a rifle ball / bullet (it certainly has that appearance). Barrel 30 inches / 76.25cm.
