Details:
In 1957 Jaguar launched the final incarnation of the successful and glamorous XK range, the XK150. The last of the XK range could be easily identified by its more bulbous appearance and a less pronounced wing line. Modern styling touches included a revised front grille and full width deeper bumpers, as well as a deeper one piece windscreen.

Mechanical improvements included optional disc brakes, which came complete with servo assistance. The brakes had always been criticised on the 120 and the 140, so the new option was fitted to virtually all XK150's ordered. Engine power had now increased to 210bhp on the 3.4 litre "SE" XK150, the standard car had 190bhp.

As with earlier models, the Drop Head Coupé version of the XK150 sat at the top of the range and commanded the highest price at £1,969 7s for the SE version. The Drop Head Coupé came with all of the usual refinements including a fully lined convertible hood.

Offered here a 1958 example of the 156 DHC, which has been in the same ownership for around 33 years and was bought, as a restoration project, from a Mr D. Wilcox of Worsley, Manchester.

The car has been restored and formed part of a large and eclectic collection, which is now being offered for sale due to the death of the owner. It is in restored condition but the owner was in the process of renewing the hood when he passed away, so the car is offered without the hood but compete with the hood frame, still attached, and the materials to complete the work.

This is an excellent example of the range-topping 150 DHC, which has been lovingly restored by a very skilled amateur. The body has benefited from many new panels and is in very sound order, while the paintwork is a good, amateur finish. The interior is in super, original condition and the car is said to be mechanically good.

Further information has kindly been provided by the XK Register, where it is recorded the owner contacted the XK register for some technical advice regarding the hood. The Register was allowed to record the details of the car but asked not to disclose the owner's details, who was a very private man. The car was registered in June 1958 and retains the original engine/chassis and registration number.

Offered complete with a JDHT Heritage Certificate, which will be included in the history file.
