A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 6898, 1938, from a 3ft 6ins gauge South African Railways GM Class 4-8-2+2-8-4 Beyer Garratt No 2306. This class of sixteen locomotives were all withdrawn in 1974 following the advent of dieselisation. Cast brass, 18"x8½", the front repainted. (Postage Band: C)
