A SATSUMA EARTHENWARE BOX AND COVER, mid 19th century, of cushion form, painted in typical palette with Samurai warriors within a honeycomb and mons border, the interior painted with a finch amidst flowers, unmarked, 10 3/4" diameter, together with a similar koro and cover with Temple Dog finial, two lug handles raised upon three peg feet, painted with figures, marked in burnt orange (2) (Est. plus 21% premium inc. VAT)

Base of box has two firing cracks, one on base and one near footrim, the cover has been in four and is restored. Koro has one glued foot with minor losses and tail of dog present but loose (old glue). All rather tired
