The Jaguar S-Type was a major redevelopment of the Mark 2. It used a mid-scale version of the Mark X independent rear suspension to replace the Mark 2's live rear axle and featured longer rear bodywork, among other styling and interior changes. The S-Type was available with either 3.4 or 3.8-litre XK engines but only in twin carburettor form because the triple carburettor setup would not fit into what was essentially still the Mark 2 engine bay.

The car offered here has two files brimming with history which go back to when the car was new, and follow through to the present day. It has covered 53,000 warranted miles since new. This very special, low mileage car has always been in excellent order having been exhibited at Beaulieu in the 1980's and NEC in 1998, 2000 and most recently pride of place on the JEC stand in 2013. In 2000, a fastidious purchaser wished to take the vehicle to the ultimate level by disassembling, stripping and preparing it to the best possible standard devoting 1,800 hours over an 18 month period investing around £40,000 on top of the £16,500 purchase price! Since then, the Jaguar has been enjoyed touring Spain, France and extensively within the UK. It remains in magnificent condition.
