A Lotus Elan S2 (M100 Limited Edition No 418) finished in metallic blue with cream leather interior. The car has covered just over 69,000 miles in its 26 years, which works out at around 2,500 miles per year. The car has 10 stamps in the service history book covering its early years, and a large folder of invoices for more recent work and servicing. Also present are the original handbook, factory workshop manual DVD, two sets of keys, and two immobiliser keys for the updated Cobra 8510 security system. Recent major work includes an engine rebuild at EMS Engine Machining last year, under 2,000 miles ago.
The paint and bodywork are in good condition, certainly good enough for a local show. The cream leather interior is in similarly good condition, with stainless steel S2 scuff plates and Limited Edition mats still present. All the electrics and switchgear work, and a JVC head unit has been installed. The soft top hood is in good condition with no tears or rips, and the roof seals have been replaced in the last twelve months.
Mechanically, the Elan is standard apart from the fitment of a Piper stainless steel exhaust and sports cat system, which adds a nice burble, and is not too loud. A set of brand new BBS alloys were fitted in April 2021 at a cost of £2,147. The last service was carried out in February 2021.
When the car was under 3 years old, it suffered accident damage and became a Category D (non-structural) insurance claim. The car was professionally repaired and has been through multiple MoTs since. Overall, this is a modern classic in good condition which would make an ideal weekend toy for a discerning driver.
