The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a sports car marketed in 2+2 Coupe and Convertible body styles between 1955 and 1974. The Karmann Ghia combined the chassis and mechanicals of the Type 1 Beetle, with styling by Luigi Segre of the Italian carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by the German coach-builder Karmann. The Karmann Ghia was internally designated the Type 14. In 1961, Volkswagen introduced the Type 34, a variant based on the newly introduced Type 3 platform and featuring angular bodywork.

Production doubled soon after its introduction, becoming the car most imported into the U.S. More than 445,000 Karmann Ghias were produced in Germany over the car's production life, not including the Type 34 variant. Karmann Brazil produced 41,600 cars locally for South America between 1962 and 1975. American industrial designer Walter Dorwin Teague included the Karmann Ghia in his list of the world's most beautifully designed products.

This Karman Ghia is a beautiful car. The upgrades are subtle and the workmanship excellent. The car was bought on e bay as an unfinished project. Being a California import there were no corrosion issues and the car was stripped and rebuilt. The body being taken back to bare metal and resprayed. The engine is a new 1600 twin port from VX specialists The Engine Shop in Erith, Kent. Adjustable front suspension has been fitted and the car has been lowered by 2 inches. The Empi alloy wheels are also new as are the carpets, the wood-rim VW bossed steering wheel and the Empi gear shifter. The car drives fantastically. A thick history documents the Ghia's restoration which was finished in September 13. The car has had a full MOT up until September 2016, and has not been driven in the wet. The present owner is sadly selling the car that was bought it in July 2014 and now has no room to store it.
