A mid Victorian gold cameo brooch. Of oval outline, the agate cameo, carved to depict a lady in profile, with rope-twist and split pearl surround. Length 4.2cms. Weight 20.1gms.

  • Overall condition good to fair. Some surface scratches/ wear and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Replacement pin hinge.
  • Areas of significant discolouration.
  • Small dent to side edge.
  • Some replacement split pearls.
  • Without the aid of laboratory equipment, it has not been possible to determine if these split pearls are from a fresh or saltwater source.
  • Split pearls are a creamy white colour, with rose and greenish overtones.
  • Split pearls in generally good condition with some showing slight abrasion and nacre damage.
  • Agate cameo is a purplish-grey body colour.

  • Agate cameo in good condition.
