Two early 20th century 9ct gold gem-set and split pearl brooches. Each designed as an oval-shape amethyst or citrine, within a split pearl surround. AF. One with hallmarks for Chester, partially indistinct. Lengths 2.4 and 3.1cms. Weight 12.2gms.

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • One split pearl deficient.
  • Some split pearls are replacement.
  • Amethyst brooch with base metal replacement pin and fittings applied with soft solder.

  • Replacement split pearls white with muted lustre, many show fairly obvious residue of adhesive.

  • Amethyst light greyish-purple, fairly well saturated, with good to fair clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Citrine medium yellowish-orange, well saturated, with good clarity and no obvious typical inclusions.

  • Split pearls white to slightly creamy-white, a few are light silvery grey with some pink overtones and fairly lustre.

  • Stones in mostly good condition with minor abrasions, some with slightly more noticeable abrasion.

  • One stamped 9ct.
