District Audit: c.1879 set of five stamp-sized imperforate die proofs in black on thin card, denominated 5s, 10s, £1, £2 and £5, each appropriated in RED, produced as registration trials in advance of issue, to check the alignment of the appropriation tablets. Very few examples of this stage of the process survived. A very rare set.
