A varied and interesting group of antique prints spanning over 300 years, comprising:
* A 16th-century German/Flemish devotional woodcut, depicting the Crucifixion within an ornate Renaissance strapwork border - an early and scarce survival.
* Sir David Wilkie RA - "Hymn of the Calabrian Shepherds to the Virgin", a 19th-century steel engraving after Wilkie, engraved by Henry Rolls, with fine detail and light toning.
* J. R. Herbert RA, a finely drawn etching datec 1839 for the Etching Club, illustrating the line "The trumpet sounds, and is the knell of peace"
* After Alexandre Bida - "The Opium Seller", a detailed Orientalist lithograph by J. Laurens, printed by Imp. Lemercier, Paris, c.1860-1875
* Théophile Alexandre Steinlen, a vibrant colour ithograph front cover for Gil Blas Illustré, dated 3 September 1897, illustrating "Brocéliande" for Jean Lorrain
* "Argo", a richly coloured 19th-century German chromolithograph depicting Jason and the Argonauts surrounded by elaborate neoclassical ornament.
A diverse lot representing early printing, Victorian etching, Orientalism, Belle Epoque illustration and mythological chromolithography Some age wear and foxing as expected.
