Mitchell and prototype Supermarine Type 300 Spitfire K5054 on first flight from Eastleigh Airfield on 5 March 1936. Flown in Supermarine Spitfire MK 14 to Commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the first flight of the spitfire. Personally Signed by Gp Capt Sir Douglas Bader, the legless Fighter pilot CO 242 Hurricane Squadron during the Battle of Britain, shot down in 1941 and taken prisoner, escaped was recaptured and sent to Oflag 7c Colditz Castle until released by the US Army in 1945, and Signed by James Edgar ( Johnnie ) Johnson Pilot Officer - Pilot Decorations DFC* DSO** CBE CB Squadrons 616 19 127 Wing 125 Wing. 38 Enemy aircraft destroyed. He received the DFC ( US) the order of Leopold and the C de G ( Belg). He served in the USAF and Korea in 1950. He retired on March 15 1966 as an Air Vice Marshal and also Signed by Wg Cdr Stanford Tuck who was OC 257 Squadron during the Battle of Britain and credited with 18 Victories.
