Rare Royal and Ancient Golf Club "Queen Adelaide Gold Medal" complete with ribbon and bar -the obverse embossed featuring William IV bust and Guilelmo Iiii D G Britanniar Regi F: D: and on the reverse Crown-Adelaide Regina Cudi Jussit MDCCCXXX, with crossed golf clubs above and complete with original coloured ribbon and bar (no date) overall 2.75" x 1.125" - mf&g complete with the history overall 16.25" x 12". Note after the death of his Majesty King William 4th his widow Queen Adelaide, as Duchess of St Andrews, became Patroness and gave the club the Royal Adelaide Medal in 1838 and be worn in compliance with Her Majesty's wishes by the Captain of the Club at all meetings'. From 1853, the Queen Adelaide Medal was awarded to the captain when he drove into office with his symbolic, single stroke. Every Captain since then has hit a single shot from the 1st tee of the Old Course, thus gaining the Silver Club and the Queen Adelaide Medal. From the late David Easby Estate
