CORFU - EARLY USAGE OF THE CIRCULAR "POSTA/CORFV/SETTINSVLARE" MARK ON COVER EX VENICE; 3 Sept. 1805 EL (one flap cut and glued to display whole mark across the join on reverse; later label partly removed from the front) from Venice to Corfu "Con. Capt. Bussolich" and so charged "3 [paras]" in red for local postage on delivery with a partly fine circular "POSTA/CORFV/SETTINSVLARE" mark on the reverse; Zaphiriou only records (1987; p.A147) 27 examples of this mark (not including this lot or the preceding lot) in the 1803-07 period. Rare Corfu mark of this elusive 1804-07 period.
