To this day, the Ford Mustang retains the record for the most vehicles ever sold in its launch year. Ford executives were expecting to sell around 150,000 but between April 1964 and August 1965, they sold over 600,000 cars.

Until relatively recently, the Mustang was not fully appreciated in it's homeland but over the last 20 years the Mustang has gained the status it deserves as, not only the most successful in its day but as the launch pad for the American Pony Car. The most prolific model was the coupe, with the Fastback coming second and the convertible a distant third but it is the fastback that now commands the highest prices.

Different people have different views on which is the best of the Mustangs but the first generation cars (1964 - 1966) are the prettiest, by far. The association with Steve McQueen has an influence on the values of the 67/68 cars built they are heavier, wider and more bulky that the first generation car. As with the E-type Jaguar, it is the pure lines of the first generation, which score heaviest.

This 1966 example has benefited from new floors, new carpets set, new brakes, new bumpers front and rear, new GT driving light bar, , new security fuel cap, boot liner, spare wheel cover and tote bag, new luxury over-mats, new Radio with MP3 connection and much more. It was imported from Indiana, from its original owner, in 2010 and has proven to be completely reliable. It is complete with the original, 1966 owners handbook and the original steering wheel.

The car is said to drive exceptionally well and has been equipped with a chrome Monte Carlo brace, chrome valve covers, chrome shock tower mounts and chrome filter housing and an electric cooling fan. It sits on a set of original Magnum 500, 14" wheels and narrow-band, white wall tyres.

In the words of the mechanics who look after this Mustang "It is one of the best they have ever driven" and they have driven a few.

Note: The car is having the plate transferred onto a retention certificate at the moment will come with a 1966 D registration. If this is not completed by the time of the sale, we will forward the new registration number, tax disc and V5 to the buyer once they have been received by us.
