The 1960 Jaguar MK2 offered here is an early example with recessed sun visors, pendant throttle pedal, and smooth matt black centre dash section. The car was U.K built and exported to South Africa direct from the factory. It is believed this was for use by the South African police, tell-tale signs of this being a very large CAV dynamo and large regulator, which are understood to be police specification. the underside is very sound, and most bushes, ball joints and suspension parts are recent. The car is also fitted with four pot front brake callipers and ventilated discs. The rear brakes have recently been replaced, along with Koni Classic shock absorbers. The engine pulls like a train, aided by 2” SU carburettors and a stainless exhaust. The interior is superb, with new red leather seats coverings, and the wood is beautifully restored and lacquered. The headlining has been replaced and so have the carpets.

The car has recently finished a light restoration, in the form of a full re-spray in indigo blue with a slight metallic tinge, with any rust issues addressed. As well as a full lubrication and carburettor service, the radiator was replaced by a new aluminium one with Kenlow fan. The heater matrix and heater cables have been replaced. The restoration is accompanied by a USB stick containing circa 50 pictures.

The car comes with a 12 month MOT certificate, a Jaguar Heritage certificate showing matching numbers, and a copy of the latest restoration and service invoice for about £4,000. It is fitted with a wooden steering wheel at present, but the original is supplied with the car. The car runs well with excellent oil pressure and a working overdrive. This is a very rare and desirable early 3.8 example.
