Born 1835; Hugh Patrick Ralston Français Crawfurd, the son of Hugh Crawfurd and Annabella Crawfurd (nee Ralston) .
Commissioned in 1855 and to Indian Army 1863; Ensign in the 34th Madras Native Infantry on 1 September 1866.
Promoted to Lieutenant in April 1858;
Captain in September 1867;
Major in September 1875;
Lieutenant-Colonel in September 1881.
Served as Lieutenant-Colonel of the 12th Madras Infantry in the Burma War of 1885-87. In November 1885 the unit besieged the redoubt at Minhla and routed the garrison in a hard fought action where they lost four officers and 26 men. Commanded 5th Madras Infantry in 1890.
Retired in 1893; later address : Bedford Gardens, Kensington.
This appears to be his only medal entitlement.
