the fan leaves brightly painted on both sides with figures amongst elaborate terraced pavilions, each figure with finely detailed ivory faces and applied silk clothing, the guards and sticks gilt-lacquer decorated against a black ground with figures in a garden, and with Buddhist emblems, each fan with a fitted lacquer box (2)
