Manufacturer: Jaguar Cars
Model: E-type S3 FHC
First Registered: 1972
Registration No: RegNo
Engine No: 7556625B
Chassis No: 1551047BW
MOT: None
Colour: Midnight Blue
Details:
By 1970 the American specified E-type Jaguar was being outperformed by its competitors because of the very strict emission regulations, which were strangling the 4.2 litre XK engine. The factory response to this was to produce a new E-type, which had 5300cc of V12 under the bonnet.

The Series Three E-type was a heavily modified version of its predecessors. The car was wider and longer, it had a wider track and beefier wheels and tyres but most importantly, it had 285bhp on tap and could out perform most of the opposition with its 140+mph and startling acceleration.

Unlike the S1 and S2, the S3 came in two, rather than three forms. You could either have a roadster or a fixed head coupé, which were both built on the same wheelbase. The fixed head offered 2+2 accommodation, whereas the roadster had extra luggage space behind the front seats.

Offered here is a 1972, one owner example of the Series 3 V12 Coupé, which is part of a large and eclectic collection, which includes other Jaguars, military vehicles and pre-War saloons from Ford and Riley. This collection is being broken up and sold off due to the demise of the gentleman, who not only bought the vehicles but also restored them, including Tanks, Scout Cars and various Jaguar cars.

This example was bought new by the deceased on the 17th March 1972 and is a one owner car. It has been recently registered to his widow but the car remained with the original owner until January 2014. The odometer shows just 42,000 miles, which is thought to be correct but cannot be warranted as such.

The car is finished in an unusual colour for a Series Three, in that it is in midnight blue, which would appear to be the original finish. It has recently benefited from a new header tank and hoses and is presented in very sound order. The car was in use until recently and is offered in excellent order throughout but may require a quick check over before use.

Offered complete with a JDHT Heritage Certificate, which will be included in the history file.
