The Mercedes-Benz W114 and W115 models are a series of Saloons and Coupés built from 1968 to 1976. W114 models had six-cylinder engines and were sold as the 230, 250, and 280, while W115 models had four-cylinder engines and were marketed as the 200, 220, 230, and 240. All were styled by Paul Bracq.

The W114/W115 models were the first post-war Mercedes-Benz production car to use a newly engineered chassis format of semi-trailing rear arms and ball-joint front end. Mercedes introduced the Coupé in 1969, with a 2.5 or 2.8 litre six-cylinder engine, and the pillarless design allowed all the windows to be lowered completely for open air motoring. Only 67,048 Coupés were built, and 1,852,008 saloons. The W114 received a facelift in 1973, with a lower bonnet-line, lower and broader grill, a single front bumper, and lower headlights, removal of the front quarter-lights, ribbed tail lights, and larger side mirrors. The interior received inertia reel belts and a new padded steering wheel.

1972 Mercedes 280 SEL LWB 4.5 litre Saloon Imported from Maryland USA with all duties paid and now UK registered (EKH 980K). The previous owner had the car MOT'd (which expired January 2018) but the car has done no UK road miles, as the UK registration only completed on 1st December 2018. This is a similar model (108 series) as seen in recent James Cordon and confused.com TV ads. The vendor believes that only 8,173 of this particular model were built between May 1971 and November 1972. This big engine V8 long wheel base version is the model to have.

This car is described by the vendor as having no apparent structural rust and only minor marks on the body. The Mercedes wheels have been chromed and are in fine order. The Interior is all pretty sound but the wood strip at the base of front screen needs attention, and one of the electric windows is not fully closing. The car is said to drive well.
