The first generation model was produced from 1972 to 1976 at Ford’s German factory in Cologne and at its British factory in Dagenham. The March 1972 released Granada succeeded the British Ford Zephyr as Ford's European executive car offering. The car soon became popular with senior executives due to its considerable power output and great level of comfort. The initial range used the Ford Essex V4 unit in 2.0 litre displacement and the Essex V6 engine in 2.5 litre and 3.0 litre capacities. Due to the exceptional performance and road holding of these Fords, they were often first choice for criminals and the police.

This example has been subject to a 15 year, bare shell, nut and bolt restoration. Absolutely everything is new or reconditioned throughout, and completed to a high standard. The panels are completely straight and true with great panel gaps, the paint is superb and completed to an excellent standard, new vinyl roof, rechromed bumpers, trim and rubbers where necessary.

The underside is as good as the rest of the car, it’s beautifully clean as has only seen dry roads since completion. The interior has been completely re-upholstered with new diamond stitched leather seats, new carpet, new door cards and new headlining. The wheels have been refurbished and are pristine with new tyres The engine and gearbox completely overhauled, new water pump, alternator, radiator etc. There’s just too much to list, every bit of the car has been addressed.

The car starts first turn of the key. It sounds beautiful, drives superbly with ample power, handles very well indeed and stops effectively. This is a very rare and beautiful car, it wants for nothing except enjoying and taking to shows. There are so few of them, especially in this condition.
