STATE LANDAU, c.1830. In dark brown with red lining and red lined wheels, heavily gilded foliate mouldings, late crest with the motto "Study quiet". Collinge`s axles and perch and C spring undercarriage with typical rounded splinter bar; Salisbury boot, ornate footmen`s stand and sword case; folding steps and safety door catches. This coach is believed to have been used by Queen Adelaide, wife of William IV. Later it served as the State Coach for the Judges of Assize at Carlisle. It played a part in the Carlisle Historical Pageant of 1928.
