Leonard Forrer: 'Biographical Dictionary Of Medallists, Coin-, Gem- and Seal-Engravers, Mint Masters &c, Ancient and Modern with References to Their Works BC 500-AD 1900', London, Spink & Son, 1904-1930, 6 volumes (of 8), all the original edition limited to 300 copies only, which had its origins in the Spink Numismatic Circular, being volumes I, IV-VIII, volume I being the revised edition, 691pp; 725pp; 738pp; 738pp; 567pp; 461pp, illustrations from photos throughout, uniform original quarter navy morocco gilt, top edges gilt; together with a late 19th Century black leather gilt album of coin impressions, comprising 92 leaves, each containing impressions of obverse and reverse of coins on gold and silver paper; a total of 264 impressions, some annotations in pencil. Much of the material included is Far Eastern (Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines), with additional German, British, French, Latin American Coins. Compiled circa 1870-1880[?]. With a single folio sheet inserted headed "Fineness of coins for Rohde", dated 9 December 1878, listing coins with their metal content, plus a 19th Century m/s letter to "Rohde" re coin collection and another contemporary m/s page of notes on the coins, both on headed paper, all loosely inserted, small 4to album, 21 x 18cm, contemporary black leather gilt; plus another part set of Forrer: 'Biographical Dictionary Of Medallists, Coin-, Gem- and Seal-Engravers, Mint Masters &c, Ancient and Modern with References to Their Works BC 500-AD 1900', London, Spink & Son, 1904-1930, 6 volumes (of 8), volumes I, IV-VIII, limited to 300 copies only, orig. quarter navy morocco gilt very worn, volume VIII with bookplate of David W Gale to front pastedown (13)
