A DEATH PLAQUE South African Died on Service Death Plaque officially named to 14497 Capt H G Duffett MC – SAAF. Lt HG Duffet enlisted in the Prince Alfred Guard, transferring to the 4th SA Armoured Car Regt where he won the Military Cross for destroying a German plane that had made a forced landing. Later rescuing an allied Hurricane pilot. Captured 4 Germans and 3 Italians. Capt Duffet then joined the SAAF where he trained as pilot. Unfortunately Captain Duffet was killed in a flying accident with 27 Squadron SAAF in Cape Town where he is buried.
