A 17th Century English silver plaque, of rectangular form repousse decorated in high relief with two parrots within tulips and other flowers with scrolling foliage, the outer border of egg and acanthus leaf motifs, 1600-1699, 34.5 x 24 cm ** The tray was tested by spectrographic analysis by P.V.A. Johnson, Superintendent Assayer of the Assay Office, Goldsmith's Hall, London in 1993 where he found from comparing the results with the Goldsmith's Hall data bank of English silver the probable period of origin is 1600-1696.
