1840 1d black and 2d blue pair of May date mourning covers, both from Burton to the same addressee in London, the former franked by 1d black, Plate 2 (ID), with four fine margins, tied by a pinkish MC, with Burton double arc ds alongside for MY 29 and backstamped by cds for the same date, the latter, 2d blue, Plate 1 (SB), with three close to good margins, tied by red MC with Burton double arc ds at lower left for MY 24 (Sunday) with a cds backstamp for the following day. The covers and stamps with small faults, nevertheless a very scarce pair. A wonderful and recent discovery. Both with RPS Certificates (2026), Spec. AS14tj, DS5te, from £37,000.
