Matthew Healey graduated from Glasgow School of Art and, in 1997, moved to
Bristol. He worked for Aardman Animations on all their major stop frame projects
until 2014 when he decided to pursue his own artistic career and to set up Matthew
Healey Props. “My work has always been figurative and, since the start of the
genocide in Gaza, it has all been about the plight of the Palestinians. Sadly, death
has figured heavily. I have a human skeleton in my studio which I’ve found myself
drawing repeatedly – these artworks came from those drawings.”
