Offered here is one of last batch of Rover 3.5 litre P5B saloons to be built. The P5B Saloon was a favourite of high-ranking Government ministers and served as Prime Ministerial transport for Harold Wilson, Edward Heath, James Aallaghan and Margaret Thatcher. The last batch of P5Bs to roll off the Rover production line in June 1973 were purchased by the British Government and placed in dry storage to be released for Government use as required and subsequently registered. Relatively new looking P5Bs were therefore still familiar sights in Westminster for more than a decade after production had ended.

Finished in jet black with contrasting saddle hide upholstery, this Rover has remained with one gentleman owner for 21 years and has been in a large private collection of historically significant motor cars. Unfortunately due to his age the car was last used in 1995 and was dry stored until 2013 when some recommissioning works were undertaken. Currently displaying 32,000 miles, believed to be correct, the car does currently enjoy an MoT until September 2014 and road tax until June 2014. The car retains a wonderful patina and drives well with good oil pressure, ready to drive away.

Still retaining several interesting clues to its past as a Government vehicle which include its chrome bonnet mast, MOD issued registration mark, 08 FM 48, service and lubrication instructions, identification plate, fitted fire extinguisher to the passenger footwell, etc. A charming classic Rover with fabulous provenance including believed links to the ex. PM James Callaghan. A rare opportunity to own a piece of British history.
