A Coalport dessert comport, circa 1889-91, yellow ground with black border beaded in white enamel, centrally painted with a circular roundel of two wading or shore birds, numbered X107 but no Coalport factory mark, 23cm diameter and 15cm high Provenance: Ex. Roger Edmundson Collection. Michael Messenger states that the X series was introduced after 1889, conforming to this later style of painting. Record notes suggest X107 was listed in the pattern book as "with flowers in the centre", but this example notably features birds. Condition:Good condition, but some crazing and a slight hairline visible to the underside of the stem.
