A 19TH CENTURY IRISH ‘KILLARNEY WARE’ WORK TABLE, circa 1860. A fantastic example of the skills these craftspeople had with marquetry inlay throughout, to the hinged lid surface is found a typical inlaid scene showing Muckross Abbey which is surrounded by scrolling vines & an Irish harp to each corner. As you open the top you are met with a further inlaid panel to the underside showing a beautiful harp with shamrock sprigs around it. To the interior is a compartmented lift out tray, and a drop storage box within. The table top and work box is held up on a tapered column that has a bulbous end decorated with further inlay, all sits on a circular base and terminates on carved scrolling feet. Condition: Over all in excellent condition, there is some ware and cracking to the top table surface – as seen in photographs, this can be restored. The interior is in excellent condition. Dimensions: 72.5cm tall x 57cm wide x 42cm deep (at top) depth at the feet is 47cm approximately.
