Calling all model train, steam, and model engineering enthusiasts! Have we got a sale for you!!

Richard Winterton Auctioneers have an interesting auction for collectors coming up next week, find out more here...

It’s not often that a collection of incredible items such as these goes up for auction but we can confirm that more than 125 items – including locomotives, steam wagons, and hand-crafted engines are all due to be sold by Richard Winterton Auctioneers on Monday 12th October.

Many of the lots due to go under the hammer actually come from a single owner based in Lichfield. The stunning hand-built items truly are a sight for sore eyes and such a rarity to find in this number and up for sale.

Richard Winterton said “This really is a sensational collection of steam and model engineering pieces.

“To think of the sheer skill and dedication it takes to create just one of these engines, starting with just the plans and raw materials and then milling and engineering every single piece individually and building it from scratch just takes my breath away.

“Multiply that on the scale we have here and it’s just mind-blowing.

“We’re really chuffed to bring this specialist sale to a head and I know there will be many collectors out there who are as excited as we are."

We have chosen some of our favourite pieces to highlight here, check them out below.

This stunning blue Baker Ball hopper monitor hit & miss stationary engine. It appears complete and in very good condition and is a 3/8 scale model by Minicasting.

This ‘Lady Mary’ – an impeccable 1/8 scale (18.4cm) gauge live steam model of a Hunslet 0-4-0 saddle tank locomotive has been constructed and finished to an extremely high standard. It appears in lightly run, largely complete, and in very good condition.

This handcrafted 3 cylinder radial aircraft engine model is fitted with a Classic Series propellor (length approximately 40cm), all mounted on a wooden and metal base, with a fuel tank, width approximately 17cm, length of engine approximately 19cm.

‘Ruth’ a hand-built 3-inch scale live steam model of a Clayton under type steam wagon. Although, not tested, it is clear that this lot has been constructed and finished to an extremely high standard and even boasts a plastic dropside body with a wooden plank flatbed.
