The final bowl was signed by Richard Eaton, the designer behind the range more than 35 years ago. Glazed in Denby's iconic Imperial Blue, it served as a fitting farewell to the handcrafted, sustainable tableware brand.

The administration comes after reduced demand, rising energy prices and increasing employment costs. However, the much-loved pottery business had many supporters online who will be saddened to see it go. A #SaveDenby campaign was launched to encourage more people to purchase its products. A petition also circulated online, reaching more than 105,000 signatures. 'Support the Ceramics Industry and Protect British Manufacturing Jobs and Skills' received enough signatures to be considered for debate in Parliament.
