Fine Art, Antique & Decorative Furnishings Auctions
These are held six weekly and usually comprise of between 800 and 1200 lots. Items always include a wide variety of antiques across many disciplines such as: Prints, Watercolours and Oils, Jewellery and silver, Ceramics and Glass, Collectables, Medals, Carpets & Rugs, 17thC and later Furniture.

Our Antique sales are always held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, commence at 10am and are viewable from the previous Thursday 12pm - 4pm and Friday, Saturday & Monday from 10am to 4pm and sale days from 8.30 am.
Monthly Antique & Interiors Auctions (every first Saturday)
These monthly sales and between 600 and 800 lots. Included are a wide variety of Georgian and later furnishings and effects, plus a selection of more modern items which can include good quality suites, stripped pine and reproduction furniture. Garden ststuary, benches etc, We also include Police stolen/recovered property including bicycles, electricals, tools, jewellery etc.Text only catalogues are available from the first day of viewing.
Sales commence at 10am, viewing takes place on the preceeding Friday 10am - 7pm and on the morning of sale from 8.30am. We actively encourage viewing whilst the sale is in progress provided it is not disruptive.
These can usually be provided by our specialists on any lot, up to 24 hours prior to the commencement of the sale. Any questions regarding condition MUST be resolved to the buyers satisfaction BEFORE leaving a bid. Due to the volume of pre-sale enquiries delays should be anticipated and response times will vary.
Condition reports should be considered opinion only and the purchaser should satisfy themselves as to whether or not in their own judgement, the lot accords with the description provided or indeed their expectations.
On request, we can email digital image of any lot up to 24 hours prior to the sale. We will ONLY respond to email requests for images and not verbal requests. Please email your request to: firstname.lastname@example.org
We reserve the right to not offer this complimentary service if the lot values are considered too low or if we consider the request ‘unreasonable’!
We receive many hundreds of requests for images and further information and consequently response times may vary – patience is a virtue. If you have experienced a long wait for a reply, please telephone to confirm your request has been received!
Before bidding prospective buyers are required to register. You will be asked to provide your name, address and telephone number, and will then be given a bidding number. This numbered bidding system ensures client confidentiality and the information will be used for accounting purposes only.
By commission bid
If you cannot attend the Sale, you can leave a bid in your absence. Commission bidding forms are available from reception and should be submitted in person, by telephone or by fax by 7pm on the evening prior to the auction (we will try to place bids on the auctioneer’s sale book after this time, but cannot guarantee the execution of bids).
We will always try to buy the lot for as little as possible subject to there being a reserve and/or other bidders. If there are two identical bids, the first one submitted will take precedence.
In some instances depending on the amount and/or quantity of the commission bid(s) and whether or not you are a regular customer, we may ask for credit or debit card details to guarantee your bid(s). We will not process the card unless you fail to pay for the items after 7 days from the date of the Sale. As an absentee bidder, you should check the status of your bid(s) post the auction.
Please contact us the day after the auction to see whether your bid has been successful. We will not contact you after the Auction by telephone but will send an invoice within 48 hours if you are successful.
Please note that if you are successful in your bid, the lot(s) must be paid for and collected by 4pm the Friday following the auction (Wednesday for a Saturday sale) Unless alternative arrangements have been made with us, storage charges will be levied until payment/collection takes place. The onus is therefore as much on the bidder as the auctioneer to check on the status of their bids and to complete the transaction.
Multiple lines are available during larger auctions for those who cannot attend but who want to bid ‘live’ at the sale. Please contact us as early as possible if you would like to arrange a line, which are reserved on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
We will telephone you approximately five lots prior to the relevant lot to ensure a good connection (especially mobiles/international). A secondary back-up number and a back-up commission bid (not placed on the Auctioneer’s book, but kept with the staff member telephone bidding on your behalf) are both good ways to ensure your bid is not missed (e.g. you are engaged/in an area of poor reception). All lots are subject to a Buyer’s Premium of 18% + VAT (21.60% inclusive).
Droit De Suite (Artists Resale Rights)
Where a lot is affected by this legislation, a surcharge of 4% will apply to the hammer price, in effect the base premium will therefore be 22% plus VAT. Please enquire for clarification on this legislation.

We will now only accept credit/debit cards if used with chip & pin due to persistent fraud. There is currently a surcharge of 2.5% + VAT for all payments by credit cards. Card payments are not accepted over the telephone for sums over £100.

New Buyers should make arrangements with our accounts department prior to the sale.

Collection of Lots
Goods will not be released until the purchaser’s account has been paid in full. Payment can be made during the sale and, where possible, items may be removed – a porter will always be on hand to assist. If however, the porter decides that removal of an item may disrupt the progress of the sale, then it will be necessary to wait until the sale has finished or there is a break.
Any goods not collected by 4pm on the Friday following the auction will be charged a storage charge of £5 per lot per day unless alternative arrangements have been made. We reserve the right to remove to a third party storage facility any lot remaining uncollected after this time, at which point storage charges will be payable to the third party. This applies to all buyers, whether they bid in person, by commission or by telephone. Please note that we are not open on Saturdays for collection of items.
We have porters available to assist during the week of the auction. If collection is delayed after this time we cannot guarantee their availability. For the collection of larger items you will need to ensure adequate manpower to assist in loading.
